Seniors in the City: Design Considerations for Health & Wellness at AIA NYC

Posted · Add Comment

The Design for Aging Committee of AIA NY is hosting a panel discussion on design and aging issues.  The event, on Wednesday March 8, 2017, from 6-8pm will be held at the Center for Architecture.

The event will be moderated by Lindsay Goldman of NYAM.  Ms. Goldman is the director of the Healthy Aging program and will open the event with updates on the implementation of the model Age-Friendly NYC program.

I will begin the panel discussion with a presentation on the intersection of typical age-related changes and the built environment, providing the rationale for considering this relationship.

Dr. Ula Hwang of the Mount Sinai Geriatric Center will present on addressing these concerns in the unique environment of the Emergency Room.

Closing the panel, Rich Rosen, architect and principal for Perkins Eastman, will share senior environments which focus on wellness, and not disease, nicely mirroring the trend we have been seeing in healthcare as a whole.

Q & A and discussion will follow.

We hope to see you there.
